An impressive whitetail buck, Odocoileus virginianus, grazing in the tall grass of an open field. Ever vigilant, he raised his head periodically to check on me and the progress of my slow approach. When the critter becomes uncomfortable with the distance between us and starts to move away, I stop my approach so I will not stress the animal needlessly.

The white mountain goat, Oreamnos americanus, filmed at a mineral lick in Canada. The search for essential minerals is one thing sure to bring them down from their lofty perches in the higher mountain elevations.

This moose cow, Alces alces, was filmed in the great north woods of Maine while feeding on the bottom of a pond. Her head stayed below the water for amazingly long periods of time, but when she did surface, she shook her head violently to dislodge water from her ears and nostrils.
